- Choose Yala if seeing a leopard is your top priority and you don't mind sharing the park with more jeeps.

Which Is Better for Elephants?
Udawalawe. It is one of the best places in Sri Lanka to see wild elephants, and the open landscape makes them easier to spot. You can add a visit to the Elephant Transit Home before or after your safari, where orphaned calves are fed at 10:30 AM, 2:30 PM and 6:00 PM.
Which Is Better for Leopards?
Yala is the better choice if leopards are your main goal. Leopards also live in Udawalawe, but they are rarely seen. No park can guarantee any sighting, so go with an open mind and enjoy everything you see.
Which Is Better for First-Time Visitors and Families?
Udawalawe is a popular first safari. The open landscape makes animals easy to spot, the park is usually quieter, and a shorter safari already gives you a complete experience. Our packages start with a 3-hour jeep safari and a 4-hour safari.
Can You Visit Both?
Yes. Many travelers combine them, for example Ella to Udawalawe, then on to Yala or the south coast. Udawalawe is about 2 hours from Yala by road. We can arrange transport between them, and our Yala safari service, Yala Safari Fun, runs safaris in Yala. Opening times and closure dates can change, so check the current details before you travel.
